Rakoo didn't hear her, and he slowly made his way to the water pool. He carefully laid down by the side, hanging his paw in the warm water, and making little ripples. He occupied his mind by making small water bubbles float into the air, and then letting them pop.

Coal half-smiled and tipped her head to the side, just watching him for a second. Taking advantage of her dark coat, she snuck around, trying to conceal her white streaks and swirls. She found some foliage by the water and used it to hide, slipping into the water silently. Her body soaked it in like a sponge and she swirled around, feeling quite free. She swam closer to the brute up above her, wondering if and when he'd spot her.

Rakoo let out a soft sigh, not even noticing Coal. He hadn't heard her. He was off in his own world. He began to shape a watery heart, forming the water around the letter 'C' for Coal. He let it freeze, then let it drop into the water again. He watched it melt away back to what it had been.

Coal saw the "C" and saw an opportunity. Swimming faster she got close to the surface, nipping at the frozen curve with just the top of her teeth, arching ever so slightly out of the water. In the dark light she could look like some sort of large fish or sea creature to Rakoo as she swam back down. Taking the fading "C" she swung it around her neck, like a frozen necklace, and waited below the water...

Rakoo was pretty sure he saw something in the water, but was too tired to really notice. He let out another yawn, making various shapes in the water. Circles, more hearts, anything he could think of. He began to doze off, snoring lightly.

Anything that had a curve to it Coal caught around her neck, and soon she had neckful to where she couldn't get anymore. She swam up to the surface, bobbing her head up and down. When she realized he was asleep she swam closer, barely licking his nose.

Rakoo's sleep wasn't very deep, and when she licked him, he woke up. He jolted straight up, almost toppling over into the water. Seeing Coal, he realxed. He smiled. "Hi, Coal." He said softly, licking her nose back, and laying down again.

How're ya feelin? Her eyebrows scrunched and she flipped her head back, letting the ice pieces fall off and float in the water.

"Fine, I guess." He said with a yawn. "Really tired... Wanna come and join me?" He asked, nodding his head to a place next to him on the ground.

Coal pulled herself up and out of the water and curled up on the spot Rakoo indicated. She closed her eyes but sleep didn't seem to come to her. After a few minutes she rolled over onto her back, staring up at the darkened sky. Stars twinkled and clouds rolled over the black and blue sky. She sat up and saw a glimpse of her belly... she groaned and flipped back over, wishing she hadn't been reminded. She looked over to see if Rakoo was asleep.

What happened to her belly!? O:

    --

Rakoo wasn't yet asleep. He was half asleep, but still half awake. He yawned again, and smiled at her. He closed his eyes. It was nice to be around someone. He didn't feel lonely.

It's in her backstory... I think on page one.

Coal smiled back, but as she closed her eyes memories haunted her. She curled tight into herself and attempted to push them out, trying to enjoy the moment here and now. She really did like Rakoo...

Shaking her head she stood up, realizing that she had already slept as much as she would while in the Cavern. She crept away from the sleeping figure next to her and towards some trees. She got close to one and looked up, eyes following the seeming ever-extending branches. She looked out at one particular branch and found two gleaming eyes staring back at her. A moment later they fluttered. Tilting her head to the side she got up on her hind legs and rested the front ones on the tree's trunk, trying to get taller to see. That's when the creatures body materialized - it was a fruit bat. Coal smiled. It was actually pretty cute.

    Poor Coal 3:

He slept soundly, not hearing anything. He snored louder, and his paws began to move faster.

Coal watched the bat as it took a piece of fruit it currently had in it's leathery arm/wings and stuffed a faceful into its mouth. It munched happily, looking at her from time to time without a care in the world. How long have you been here little fruit bat? She whispered, talking to it as if it would speak back. What have you done all your life to make yourself so happy? Would you tell me your secrets? To all of this the bat just munched, happy as a clam. After Coal had finished speaking it dropped the half eatch fruit, hiccuped once, and flew off, its wings gliding itself with ease. Coal scoffed. Guess not huh? She spoke louder to the receding shadow.

Rakoo found himself waking up not long later. He couldn't sleep. So, this time he decided to take a walk, not just a trot to the water pool.

Rakoo was surpirsed to hear Coal's voice again. "Huh?" He asked following her scent. He raised an eyebrow. "Im going for a walk. Someplace quiet, where I can think." He said quietly. Why was she acting so wierd?

He shrugged his shoulders. "You could always come with me. But really, Im feeling much better. I promise." He said with a half smile. He wanted some thinking time. Some time to think about his future. He sighed. Coal really did care for him...

He nodded slowly, and then, began to walk, very slowly. His tail swished behind him. He thought carefully, and let out little, 'hmm's' and such as he thought. What if Coal finally decided that although she liked him, she wouldn't be his mate? He'd be torn. Or what if she wanted pups of her own? He had never been a father...

Coal's mind was blank as Rakoo walked away. She looked around, as if looking for something to happen or for something to just show up. Obviously finding nothing she walked back down to the water, slipping inside like she had many-a-time. The water enclosed around her body and her gill-like lungs took in the water as if it were air. She swam through some seaweed, letting the tendrils and fronds tickle her undersides. Her mind stayed blank, in fact, most of the time she just swam around with her eyes closed, just letting her instincts direct her. She wasn't sure of what was to come, what she was feeling, what had just happened or what would happen in a few moments... for now, she just swam.

Rakoo found his way to a cliff, and sat a few feet away from the edge. He sighed. "What if she says no?" He asked himself aloud.
